 Day 3 - First Aid

Today Libby left to go visit her brother with her family, and so Kailee and I started our day by driving over to Libby’s and picking up all of her gear, so that we can make sure it’s completely packed and ready to go once she gets back. On our way back from Libby’s we stopped on campus in an effort to further build and pack our first aid kit, specified to our potential needs during our hike. We went to go talk to Kelley in the athletic trainers room to ask about blister care and other first-aid related questions first. From that conversation we learnt that the health centre are the people who put together the first aid kits for orientation at the beginning of every school year. We walked over with the intention of simply asking for a list of what they usually pack, but left with a tentative offer to pack a first aid kit for us! We’ll hopefully learn more about that tomorrow when we’ll be back on campus to pick up gear from the Outdoor Centre :)

After that adventure in the morning, after lunch Kailee and I tested out our whisperlite stoves, and tested our tent for it’s waterproof ability. Good foresight on us, because the rain fly on our tent isn’t great (we’d get drenched if it rained) and one of the whisperlite stoves wouldn’t assemble properly. We’ll temporarily replace what we need by borrowing gear, either from generous friends or by borrowing gear that the school is offering to share.

Tomorrow we’ll hopefully gather the rest of our gear and finalise our packing lists.
